8th Grade School Counseling
To the Class of 2019,
What a scary thought! Graduation 2019! If you know current students in high school, then you know that high school will move just as fast as middle school. Eighth grade is an exciting year! Students reflect back to when they first entered the doors of middle school during the Rising 6th Grade Expo, to the many dances and classroom and athletic accomplishments. During the final year of middle school, students have an opportunity to appreciate the friendships that were formed and probably come to the conclusion that it's time to move on the the next level.
To help move toward high school, rising 9th grade registration will be here very soon. The registration process is very different from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Students will be provided registration packets that will include teacher recommendations for core subjects, 9th grade course selections, graduation requirements, and general information regarding high school and entering courses. We will distribute registration packets on the following dates:
March 2nd– Selig’s classroom Mr. Morman, 8th Grade School Counselor
March 3rd- Lanner's classroom 919-557-2739 [email protected]
Students are required to enter their course selections in the computer lab on the dates listed below. Students will bring their completed course selection forms with them to school on their assigned day to help them enter courses. This is a fairly quick process as long as students and parents take the time to carefully select courses. Please note that Fuquay-Varina High School will not allow students to change electives, so please make your selections carefully.
On March 10, Mrs. VanVield’s classes will go the computer lab. On March 12, Mr. Bolender’s classes will go to the computer lab. If you are considering other schools, please make sure you are aware of the various deadlines for applications and open house dates.
To help you make the transition to high school, the school counseling department will host a Family Night on February 12 from 6:30pm-7:30pm. We will talk about the registration process and provide you with valuable information that you can take with you to the various high school curriculum fairs. The FVHS curriculum fair is February 19 from 6:00p-8:30p.
